Telehealth Expansion and Your Benefits

As we navigate the current COVID landscape and social distancing practices, your healthcare providers are utilizing Telehealth Services (video and/or telephonic) as an alternative to meeting in person. With that, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid announced expansion of Telehealth coverage. Generally, this means they are loosening restrictions on how these services can be delivered. This may include allowing you to remain at home while accessing services. Many commercial insurance plans are also allowing for these changes during this crisis.
With that in mind, it is important for you as an insurance subscriber or beneficiary to contact your insurance company to find out exactly what your benefits are. Not all plans offer Telehealth as a benefit or have specific guidelines unique to your group’s policy. In order to prevent any surprises, or unwanted expenses, please call your member services number (listed on your insurance card) to verify your benefits and out-of-pocket expenses before making any appointments.
